About two weeks ago we bought sized 2 diapers for the first time! This might not seem like such a big deal to some of you but for the mom of a baby who was born prematurely and LBW it is! Carter was in newborn sized diapers for a lot longer than most babies probably are and then in size 1's forever! Every time I would go to Target I would eye the size 2 diapers thinking one day we will get into that bigger size.
Now that he is getting to be quite a big boy I decided it was time to make the jump. I am doing an experiment- I bought a box of Huggies and a box of pampers and I'm comparing them. So far they are about even. We've used the Pampers brand all along and I like the way it fits and the line that turns blue when they are wet. The Huggies seem a little bit more sturdy, but they don't seem as wide across the back. Both diapers have had blow outs so that's not really a tie breaker there.

We LOVE pampers. We bought huggies once and they just didn't work for us at all. It's a big deal to move up a size! Even for regular sized babies :) Luke has always been 20th percentile in weight, so every time we move up it's a victory.
ReplyDeleteWe use Pampers too...I actually had a little boy around the same time as you (Aug 13) he is gigantic though, grew out of newborn diapers in like 2 weeks! I agree with the Huggies, they are not wide & dont wrap around the sides like Pampers...and we HAAAVE to have Swaddlers....I accidentally bought the other Pampers (cruisers maybe?) and my husband said "I dont like these Pampers, they dont have the wetness indicator, get the other ones again" Never thought Id hear my husband say "wetness indicator" in my life, or even talk about his preference in diapers for that matter...hilarious!
ReplyDeleteWe are Huggies all the way when we use disposables! We have skinny legs so we need the narrow cut. But our main preference is cloth!

ReplyDeleteFor my 2 year old (although he's pretty much potty trained now) we use Luvs. They are cheaper and seem to hold up as well as the name brand. For my 6 month old though we use either Pampers or Huggies. She has very sensitive skin and hasn't had any issues with either of the two so we just don't risk it by trying anything new. I'm like you, I don't see a lot of difference in them.
