2013 Goals

Instead of resolutions I am making goals.  I feel that resolutions are kind of pointless, easy to break and don't give you a lot of motivation to follow through.  Goals on the other hand are specific and measurable.  Goals can be ongoing or short term.  Also, goals are something you work towards rather than just all of sudden stopping something or completely changing something all at once.  They are a work in progress, like life, and therefore more realistic!

I have two major goals for this year:

1. Fully stop biting my nails.  I was successful in stopping biting my finger nails in the middle, but I still bite my pinky nail and thumb nails.  My nails look like this:

So you can see, I have regular nails in the middle and then teeny tiny pinky nail and short thumb nail!

2. Go to the gym 2-3 times a week, preferably three.  This goal is very much still in progress considering I have the flu and I've only been to the gym once since I joined last week! ha!  Baby steps!  My plan is to go on Tuesday, Thursday and either Saturday or Sunday.  I want to lose some weight, but more importantly is to get rid of my post-baby belly!!  I need to get on that!

3. I also have some goals for things I want to get done around the house such as some redecorating and making a gallery wall in the entry way area!  But those are a bunch of mini goals.

What are your goals for 2013?

  1. I called them goals this year, too, instead of resolutions. I really need to start doing some kind of work out. I'm interested in yoga and Pilates, but I'm also finding that just playing the dance games on my roommate's Xbox to be a fun and productive way of keeping in shape. I don't necessarily want to lose weight, I just want to get myself to a point where I don't feel so tired all the time, where my body actually feels good and energetic. Good luck with your goals!

  2. Great idea goals seems more progress focused much better than resolutions.
I too bite my nails, & seem to favour the pinky! Good luck with your goals & look forward to reading more about them in 2013!

  3. I also created a goal of going to the gym 3 times a week too. I'm also going to be more open to try new things - like making different types of food.
